Wire Wrapped Rose Earrings and Brooch

Thursday, December 10, 2009

Back when I just started with wire jewelry over 3 years ago, one of the first people I got to know is Kulli (Karnaaks) from Estonia. She especially love my Twice Around the World Bracelet. :) Be patience a bit ya Karnaaks! I should get started with the tut soon.
We lost touch for a while, then we got connected via Facebook. But then I just don't get to read all the fresh feeds each day. Most of the time I missed out on these feeds and happenings, including hers.
Recently though we got in touch again when she shared with me her wire wrapped rose earrings and brooch. She did them her way and they are some beautiful variations.
Here are some pictures of her creations. Hope you got inspired by them.

Wire Wrapped Copper Butterfly

Thursday, November 19, 2009

A simple copper wire butterfly.
Just simple swirls wrapped together with 24ga copper wire.
Very roughly done as I am actually planning for a pair of earrings but this one is quite heavy.

The wings (swirls) consist of very thick copper wire - maybe 16ga or thicker.

Look out for my Etsy Sales very soon...:)

Identical Twins | Brooch

Sunday, November 15, 2009

If you do notice, I changed my blog layout again. Maybe its old age or something, I found that the older layout as too cluttered and very "painful" for the eyes. So, I spent the last few days looking for a minimalist, simple, white, 3 columns blog templates. Looked here, looked there, tested here and tested there, in the end I went back to Ourblogtemplates.com. Theirs are still the best especially for people like me, not very computer/or technically savvy when it comes to html/css coding, etc. Of course there were few others that I really like especially those with tabs for the sidebars (hint! hint! to Ourblogtemplates ;) - this will be perfect) as this really save a lot of space but there are always something else lacking such as slow to upload, can't change the colors without coding, etc.
Ok! enough about blog templates and here's pictures of my identical twins.

Psst! not bragging but I am very happy with the pictures taken with my Canon G11. These two pictures were taken outdoor, not edited except for reducing their file sizes.

Tulip Brooch - Different Leaves

Monday, December 01, 2008

I ran out of the turquoise glass bead leaves for this tulip brooch so as an alternative, I tried this diamond shaped blue glass bead and swarovski crystal.
Not bad at all :) Don't you think so?
Just trying to make myself feel good here but who says a leave has to look like a leave :)

Wire Wrapped Tulip Brooch/Pendant/Earring - All in One (maybe new Tutorial)

Saturday, November 01, 2008

Spent the whole day wire wrapping this tulip brooch cum pendant cum earring (1 side only :)) and took lots of pictures as I am thinking of turning them into step by step tutorial later on...but still thinking. That is why the "maybe" in the title...hehe. Why "maybe" you may ask? Well, writing a step by step wire jewelry tutorial is not as easy as you thought. Takes lots of time in choosing the best pix, editing them, prepare the doc, writing, editing, editing, editing, proof reading, proof reading, edit again, formatting, converting files, etc. etc. That is why.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this piece and I shall announce it if I finally decided to do the tutorial.
Maybe I should just go ahead with the tutorial. Ah! Let me sleep over it.
Sweet dreams and good nite.

So, here is the seahorse pendant cum pin/brooch completed this evening.

Wire: 19g for the frame and 28g for wrapping.
Length: Approx. 10cm

Rose Quartz Wire Wrapped Brooch - Herringbone Weave

Wednesday, July 23, 2008

Sometimes my brain don't want to work as I wanted it to be. A customer came up with a sketch for a brooch. Took me the longest time to figure out how to create it with wire....attempted 3 times and wasted some wires along the way. Somehow I couldn't wire wrap the rose quartz in place with my own design.

It was not meant to be herringbone weaved initially but Delia's post gave me the inspiration. Herringbone weave is one of my favorite weaves and this is a very creative way of using the weave. So, I finally completed the brooch.

And here is a simple wire wrapped malachite ring.

Seeing Double - Wire Wrap Tulip Brooch

Tuesday, July 22, 2008

No! Nothing is wrong with your eyes :) You are not seeing double :)
This is my third wire wrapped tulip brooch. This one looks more like the second one here.
Someone saw the second one and fell in love with it.....you know who you are..hehe! Must be the color. I love the color too...
This one measures about 4 cm in length and took me shorter time to make.
Getting better with it :)

Tulip Brooch - Second One

Sunday, June 22, 2008

My second tulip brooch was completed today. This time around with some changes, namely the focal bead, leave and the pin (shorter). You can check out the first one here.

Done! Tulip Brooch

Monday, June 09, 2008

This brooch took the longest time to make. The frame for this brooch was shown in my previous post here, picture right at the bottom. This is a custom made piece. The design for this piece was sketched by the customer so most of the time was spent figuring out how to wire wrap the design so that they flow and it does not look like a bunch of wire wrapped together.

For the petals and stem, I used 20ga wire while the wrapping is with 28ga stainless steel wire. As for the pin, I used 20ga hard stainless steel wire. The "springy" wire makes it more suitable as pin but it is really tough to bend it.

Wrapped the five petals with 4mm swarovski crystal near the top to hold the focal beads in place.
This Brooch measures about 5cm from top to bottom.

My First Wire Brooch/Pin

Monday, June 02, 2008

Yippi! I made my first wire wrapped brooch/pin today! I used an 8mm turquoise bead as the focal and wrap some wire coil around it. For pin, I used 20ga hard stainless steel wire as it is springy although a bit hard to bend :)
This will be for my personal collection to match the blouse that it have...hehe!

My First Anklet - Tiger's Eyes

Monday, May 19, 2008

I have been making wire jewelry for more than two years now but this is my first anklet. Hmm! Looks like not many people wear anklets. This tiger's eyes anklet measures 12 in and is a made for order piece. Each of the 6mm tiger's eyes are flanked by 4mm (AB) Swarovski Crytals and wire wrapped with 24ga gold filled wire.
