Wire Weave Stud Earrings and Cross - Lapiz Lazuli

I have written about Lapiz Lazuli
previously – Lapiz as Healing Stone.
Well, it didn't get rid of my migraine
headache…yet….because I don’t put it on all the time but who knows.

However, I am still in awe with this dark blue gemstone which is regarded as a stone of truth and friendship and believe to helps the wearer to be authentic and allow self-expression/confidence.

Few months back, I purchased a teardrop and oval shaped Lapiz suitable for pendant and ring. Been meaning to wire wrap them for self but as usual, many ideas ran through my head when I first saw them but once they reached home, they’ll be sitting in the box for many moons to come…haha....bad habit.

These pair of wire weaved stud earrings and cross is commissioned by a friend. I employed the weaving technique for the cross as well as the Herringbone weave for studs.

How do you like the earrings?
Me too…I love it…hehe
Notice the tiny golden shimmer?
They are not gold, how I wish, but pyrites.

Today is my favorite day....yay its Friday!
Don't we all look forward to Friday :)

Wire Jewelry - Earrings, Borneo Ceramic Beads

These are very special one of a kind beads due to its colorful combination.
The handmade nature of the process and the natural individuality of the clay and colors result in variations from bead to bead, expressed in differences of shape, sizes, texture and color.

You wouldn't notice it from the pictures but one of the beads on this wire wrap earrings is actually smaller than the other one. I guess it doesn't matter when the colors compensated for this :)

wire wrapped ethnic bead earrings

This pair of earrings is experimental.
All components are handmade with lots of hammering on the 19g stainless steel wire.
The ear hook was OK as I hammered after shaping them.
The toughest part was twisting the wires that hold the beads.
I can only twist them after hammering the wire ends flat so it was really really tough and hard work.
Almost gave up on that.
Glad I didn't break my pliers.

Wire Wrap Stud Earrings

Here's a bunch of wire wrap stud earrings for your viewing pleasure and hopefully will inspire you to create them too.
This time around, they are of mix stones.
Mostly in natural earthy colors.
No reds or orange, the calling for attention type of colors.

Wire Wrap Sea Horse Earrings

The previous pair of this similar earrings here was originally named Seahorse's Tail earrings.
Somehow, this recent pair here looks more like two little snake (Cobra) facing each other.
Don't you think so? Hmmm...didn't plan for this look but I am quite happy both sides turned out alright.
All component of this earrings are handmade except for the crystals and gemstones.

Health Issue and Wire Wrapped Studs

Finally, I am feeling better to blog again.
Phew! what a way to start the year of the Dragon.
Been away for a while due to health issue but now I am regaining back my strength.
The only positive outcome of this is that I lost about 3 kilogram of my weight, the amount of weight that I have been trying to get rid of for years :) ....not so obvious though but I can revisit some of my favorite clothes that got pushed behind the closet for years...LOL...hope they are not out of fashion.
Today and tomorrow, I will be playing with my wires and pliers again.
My hurt hand is "itchy" to play already although there is a wee bit of pain if I twist it around.

Meanwhile, here are some stud earrings, pearl necklace and a set of dangle pearl earrings with wire wrap clovers that I completed before the hand accident and health issue.

Wire Wrap Stud Earrings - New Design

My "reply to comment" is back in order. How did I do it? I took the shortest and easiest way out...at least for me, as I don't think I'd be able to find out the problem (and solve it) on my own.....technically challenged.
So, I uninstalled, downloaded and re-installed Chrome!!! Thanks to Google I was able to get back all my bookmarks, etc. and at the same time get rid of some of the apps installed but never used.

Anyway, I hope you have a great Chinese New Year (CNY) and holidays (for those celebrating).
Mine is so and so, punctuated with unpleasantness here and there.
It was a wet CNY and kind of gloomy on most days, till this moment.
Another day more and its back to work.....
The whole week almost gone....and still lots to do.

Today, I am sharing with you a new design for a wire wrap stud earrings.
No soldering or gluing involved here.
Just plain wire wrapping.
Wire wrapped earrings

This earrings was designed (special request) and made to match a bracelet of the same coin glass beads (sorry, no picture as I handed the bracelet to the new owner as soon as it was done).
Thanks Marc for getting me thinking and came up with this studs design.

Twice Around the World Set

Its rainy days here in Kuching.
After 4 or 5 hours of rain this morning, the roadside drain is overflowed.
This rarely happen and I have a feeling lots of places in the city are flooded by now.
A friend got caught and stuck in the traffic jam on the way to work.
Hubby called to let me know not to go out this morning as most roads (on his way to work) are flooded and cars are stuck in between.
There goes my leave. I am suppose to get an official matter done this morning.
Anyway, this is a good opportunity to post my recent pretties for your viewing.

TAW Ring and Bunch of Sparklies

These ring and earrings were made and shared by Martin whom I mentioned back in February when he made this - Martin's TAW Bracelet. He emailed me these pictures right after that and I totally forgot to share them with you all till now. Erm...very forgetful nowadays!
This ring is his third attempt based on my TAW Ring Tutorial.
What do you think?

Here's two pairs of earrings based on TAW Bracelet tutorial and rose ring tutorial (the pair to the left).
I think it would be nice to wrap a bead to each of the bottom ring.

What have I been up to last weekend besides barbecue?
Yeah! More Sparkly Crystal Rings - all of them pearl though.

Pearl Necklace & Studs

For the last few weeks I have been busy with non-wire jewelry related projects that I hardly have time to work on commissioned pieces. Now that I think about it, its more like I've been busy since the beginning of 2011. That's also why this blog have been neglected for long period of time.
Hope to be back more often soon and start creating :)
Anyway, in between that time, I managed to complete a last minute request for a wire wrap pearl necklace and two pairs of earrings.
I jumped several Qs though :)

These studs here are made based on my own technique, for which a tutorial is available here - Wire Wrap Studs Earrings - Simple Yet Elegant.

This pair is a remake from leftover beads, from a stringed bracelet.
Love those teardrops (Garnet & Amethyst) at the bottom.

The Theme is Purple - Cluster Ring and Earrings

This time around this Cluster Ring comes together with a pair of matching earrings.
My previous cluster rings are here and here.
Stones are mixture of purple or near purple gemstones and crystals.
The swirly part of the earrings would make a very nice stud, even without the dangling stones.

Yesterday, I completed half of this sparkly rings in the car while waiting for William to finish his swimming lesson.

I've heard of people lugging their tools and wires in the car and work in the car but this is my first time.
May be doing more of this as I spend lot of time in the car waiting for the boys.

Paua Shell Earrings and the Eyes

This pair of Paua earrings was completed few weeks back.
Came across these pictures while clearing some files from the laptop.
They are large, about 5cm across but lightweight.
(Paua shell is gift from SIL who came back for holiday recently - thanks Jee Chee)
Hmmm....I have not wire wrap anything since the last two weeks. Now that Chinese New Year is just around the corner, I doubt I'd be able to hold my pliers and wires just yet.

Besides, William just started his swimming lessons 3 weekends ago. So now, Saturday is full - Taekwando in the morning and swimming in the afternoon. There goes my weekend! Look here...
William in the pool, swimming lesson
William in the pool for his swimming lesson
He was enjoying it in the beginning. After about half an hour he complained his eyes being uncomfortable. Actually they were red. My fault! I didn't get him his goggle. So, off we went in search of his goggle, online and offline. You wouldn't know until you experience them yourself, how time consuming it is to search for their swimming trunk and goggle, etc. etc..well at least here in Kuching....or maybe we got too distracted by these popular sunglasses and these wholesale kids sunglasses. Keep reminding myself that I am not looking for sunglasses for myself :)
Yes, we got William his goggle. He's so happy with them that he wanted to bring them to bed with him..duh!
Still on eyes and eyeglasses, Hubby got his reading glasses last night!
Yeah! he needs them earlier than me...hehe...but I can use them too...which means I am going to need them very very soon :( Not something I am looking forward to though.
Look at this...

Happy Sunday and take very good care of your eyes.

Back to Basic Collection - Swirly Wire Earrings

Rather slow this weekend.
Still working on one piece since yesterday when decided to divert to the Back to Basic Collection.
Here is sharing another piece for this collection - Swirly Wire Earrings.
Looking very well endowed...like pregnant and suddenly I realize how much it looks like my logo...LOL
Back to Basic Swirly Wire Wrapped Earrings with 3mm Garnet
Notice the uneven surface. Those are hammering marks.
I like to think they are added character :)
(Just an excuse to cover up my inability to hammer evenly)
I know, some people prefer totally smooth surface.

These are tiny 3mm garnet.
Added so the earrings don't look so boring :)

Somehow, I have problem taking pictures with dark/black background.
Pictures always turn out "unreal" or "off color".
Any idea why this is so?
Any suggestions on taking nice pictures on dark background?

Wire Jewelry - Back to Basic Collection

Maybe it has something to do with age as I am quite slow in recovering from last weekend trip.
Still feeling tired although I didn't do much there -- mostly walking, window shopping, chit chatting and lots of laughing.
Now my right leg and arm are hurting slightly.
Its like a tiredness that wouldn't to go away.
Thought I didn't get enough sleep so went to bed earlier than usual last 2 nights but still the same.

OK, enough about that and here is the pair of earrings made before I left last weekend.
This is my Back to Basic Collection - Simple three pieces of wires on each side adorned with tear drop glass beads. All wires were hammered to harden.
