Wire Wrapped Bunga Terung Pearl Earrings

New design for a pair of pearl earrings.

Simple one-of-a-kind wire-wrapped Bunga Terung. 

Each Bunga Terung is wire-wrapped with a piece of 20 g stainless steel wire.

While the pearl is wrapped with 24 g wire.

The Bunga Terung itself is about 2 cm in length, end to end.

Wire Wrapped Bunga Terung - One of a Kind

Bunga Terung in English is Eggplant (Terung) Flower (Bunga).

This flora motif is popular in traditional Iban tattoos.

As tattoo, the Bunga Terung marks the rite of passage of a boy into manhood.

The spiral at the center represents tali nyawa, literally translated into "life rope" - the rope of life.

This spiral is similar to the underside of a tadpole. 

Therefore, the Bunga Terung with the tali nyawa symbolizes the beginning of a new life - you may read more at Wikipedia.

Here's the prototype of my wire-wrapped Bunga Terung, inspired by the Iban's Bunga Terung.

They don't look exactly like the Bunga Terung symbol in tattoo, but that's where the inspiration came from.

These are wire-wrapped with 20g and 21g stainless steel and brass wires. The pair at the bottom left was hammered flat.

This strap is however, slightly shorter at about 45 cm, for a smaller size person.

The Tourmaline is 3 mm in size, so this is a very dainty and delicate piece.

Added two 6 mm oval shaped Swarovski crystal on both ends, to give it a bit of sparkle :)

Like it our not, face masks is here to stay for a while.

At least until Covid-19 is gone for good. 

And hopefully, this will be soon. 

How we miss the mask free days when we were out and about.

Now, everywhere you go, face mask is compulsory.

Or else be ready to pay for hefty fine if you got caught without or with your mask down.

I find it a bit troublesome to put on and take off the mask, especially at work while you are alone in your own work station or office. The same when you would like to take a sip of water, take a bite of food or while eating at the pantry or coffee shop.

Most of the time, we will take off the mask and put it on the table if there is nowhere to hang except your arm or maybe or under your chin. 

Yeah, lots of people just pull the mask down under their chins.

The problem with table surface or any other surface, is that we do not know how clean/sanitize it is. Yes, we should be worried about that. 

So, this face mask strap helps to solve this problem.

You don't have to worry where to place your mask anymore. 

It will always be around your neck.

Material and Components:

The strap or chain consist of these:

• 4 mm natural black striped agate onyx. Onyx is known to represent strength, focus, willpower. It is believed to imparts self control and confidence and stimulates the power of wise decision-making.
• 1 pair stainless steel lobster clasps (non-tarnish)
• 1 pair of wire wrapped "bunga terung" (eggplant flower)
• Other connectors such as stainless steel jump rings and tubes.

Style Options:

The best thing about this strap is that it is versatile and practical.

First, you can convert it into eyeglasses or sunglasses strap.

Add a pair of adjustable silicone grips on the temples.

It is very easy to install and remove and fits any size frames.

Unhook from face mask and hook on the eyeglasses.

Convert it into eyeglasses or sunglasses strap effortlessly.

Second, you can convert it into a layered beaded bracelet.

Turn the strap into a layered beaded bracelet when not use for face mask or eyeglasses.

Thirdly, you guessed it - convert it into a beaded necklace. 

Just hook both lobster clasps together to turn it into a necklace. 

Actually, there are at least 2 more options for lets leave it for another day.

▲These 3 pairs of wire wrapped dangle earrings are quite straightforward to do. Just pick and choose your preferred stones and wrapped with simple wire wrapped loops. Lastly, hook them to the earring hooks. These are ready made earrings hooks, so it save you a bit of time.

I you prefer all handmade earring hooks, just google how to make your own ear wire and you'd see lots of tutorials for it.
