I just purchased your Sparkly Ring tutorial yesterday and made my first Sparkly Ring today. I could not believe how easy this ring was to make. The instructions were written out so clearly and there were so many illustrations that anyone could make this ring. This ring design is so versatile. I made this, my first, with an 8mm swarovski pearl and sterling silver. I will be keeping it for myself. Malaysian Wire Jewelers Rendezvous

The highlight of my KL trip recently was our "Malaysian Wire Jewelers Rendezvous" at Sunway Pyramid two nights ago. It was our very FIRST (face to face) meeting after we got to know each other online. As I am not a KL'lite, Shuku came and meet me at Holiday Villa and from there we took a cab to meet up with Corra at Sunway Pyramid. Apparently we waited at the wrong place (Sunway Pyramid is just so huge) but Corra found us anyway. The meeting went very well. I was quite nervous initially but we hit if off immediately. All the questions that flooded my mind before the meeting evaporated into thin air. Can't remember what they were anymore but Shuku and Corra are very nice and friendly. We went on to chat, most of the time, you knowlah....no other than wire jewelry :) Shuku was wearing all her handcrafted jewelry - necklace, bracelet (Fly me to the Moon), earrings and rings, while me, pendant and ring. Corra is the odd one out. She didn't wear any of her own handcrafted jewelry. This, she explained is because she is a bit shy of the attention she got when putting them on as people will stare at them and starts asking questions. It was a great get together and here are some pix taken that night.

Yesterday I received an email from one of my Wire Wrap Sparkly Crystal Ring Tutorial client, Cheryl. A very quick email update for you - I know you'll appreciate this! - I've now made about 20 rings based on your tutorial now (in the proper size crystals & wire!) and without even 'trying', I sold two to family members popping in & drew very positive comments from a few more friends, again, just turning up for a cup of tea and a chat.

It does seem that people are happy to buy rings on impulse. Today, our mobile hairdresser came over to cut my husbands hair and she also couldn't resist looking through all the rings and trying some on. She didn't buy one on the spot because I didn't have the one she liked in her size, and mainly, she didn't wear rings whilst working). I'd have been very happy to give her a ring because I like her, and also because she would have been very good (free!) PR!!!!

Stuck here in a Hotel Room

Where would I rather be at this moment? Home! in Kuching but I am stuck here in a hotel room in Bintulu. Flight back to Kuching this afternoon was full and me and a colleague have been on waiting list for two days. Why do they only have one flight to Kuching in the evening? Blame it on MAS and AirAsia. Well, I was in Mukah again yesterday and this morning - work. Last month I was here as well but this time around we took a direct flight from Kuching to Mukah, on a Twin Otter! Yes, been a while since I last took a flight with Twin Otter. My colleague, Sam was excited with the whole thing but I don't dare to ask him what he thinks about the plane as I am afraid I wouldn't want to take another trip with that plane next time around - if i hear what he has to say :) Take a look a the pix taken. What do you think? Anyway, I am sure I have a few more trips to make to Mukah in the next few months.....

Pearl Briolette Ring

My fingers felt itchy this evening after work. The green pearl briolettes from Szarka's were calling for me begging to be wrapped :) The result, this pearl briolette ring. The ring is wire wrapped with 23g stainless steel wire and 4mm pearl beads surrounding the briolette. This is a Size 7 ring.

Still with Donut Pendant and Pipa Technique

Last night/ early this morning I completed this Donut Jade Pendant incorporating the Pipa technique into this otherwise boring Jade Donut Bead. The idea have been swimming around my head for about two weeks while I was wire wrapping the other two donut jade pendants. Somehow I can't figure out how to finish it off, especially on the bail part. So, this piece developed as I was making it and one lead to another and along the way I figured out how to finish off the bail. The jade donut measures about 2.3cm at its widest and the length of the pendant is about 3.5cm. The 10 beads surrounding the pipa knot are 4mm unakite and coral beads. There are another 8 of them at the backside of the pendant. I added one 6mm round swarovski crystal (AB) to the top of the pendant to give it a bit of shine/sparks. The Guess the number of rings contest was fun but was over a bit too soon :) The winner is Kathy. Kathy, if you are reading this, please email me with your choice of the ring.
