Wire Wrapped Floral Themed Pendant

Have you been seeing flora everywhere?
I am seeing them everywhere, not only around the house but also the web.
People have been creating lots of floral themed pretties and I don't want to be left out.
Here is my version of a wire wrapped floral pendant.

Religious Pendants - Wire Wrap Cross

Not very productive the last few days but I managed to complete these two custom order wire wrap crosses.
I use 19ga wire for the frame of this swirly wire wrap cross while the swirls are 20ga wire. The focal is a piece of coin pearl. Don't you just love those swirls - inspired by Erin.
I have a tutorial for this cross at my Etsy shop here - Wire Wrap Cross Pendant

This second cross is inspired by Iza. This time around the stone is tourmaline and the size of the cross is a wee bit smaller, as per request. Don't try this out, or else you will get addicted to the weaving :)

A Piece without Name

Took me many many hours to complete this one. This wire wrapped piece is still without a name.
Really dunno how to call or name it.
Maybe it will stay that way.
I am not good at naming my jewelry :(
A cross shaped pendant with combination of the following stones - turquoise focal, red dyed corals, garnet (faceted), tourmaline, and Swarovski Pearls.

My Last/First Post for 2010/2011 - New Medium

Happy New Year 2011!
I hope year 2011 will be the best of best for you and yours.
Best in health, best in career, best in prosperity, best in love, best in luck, best in everything.
PEACE to the world!

No! I have no New Year resolution.
Mostly I will continue on with my 2010 resolutions.
Still a long list to go.....

Actually I have hard time keeping my eyes open at the moment.
....feel so sleepy but I got to finish this last/first post before the clock strike 12:00, 2011.
I can hear fireworks already.

Here is something I am looking forward to this new year...metal work + wire work.
My first time working with copper sheet!
wire wrapped Peas in a Pod using copper sheet and gemstones
Started off with an easy project - Peas in a Pod...
Google for it and you'll find lots of inspirations for it.
Took me about 3 hours to make these three Peas in a Pod pendants.
No heating or soldering, just hammering to harden the sheet and fold 3.
For now, I think it is easier than wire wrapping...but wire wrapping is still my first love...<3
Not sure how thick the copper sheet is but its rather thin...wish it is a wee bit thicker.
Will need to hunt for it next year :)

Getting inspired already :)?

Getting Entangled Again

Wire wrapped entangled rutilated quartz pendantWire wrapped entangled rutilated quartz pendantWire wrapped entangled rutilated quartz pendantThis stone, rutilated quartz or locally known as golden needles (literally translated from Malay language for "Jarum Emas") belongs to a friend. I am just helping her to wire wrap it with my favorite wrap (for now) - entangled wire wrap by Liza Nevin. The finished pendant is quite heavy as the stone is quite big and thick - about 1.5in x 1 in x 0.5in. This is my fourth entangled wire pendant. Before this I have completed three others as shown here (square), here and here.

ITS OUT - New Tutorial | Wire Wrapped Tulip Pendant

My new tutorial for a Wire Wrapped Tulip Pendant that you can also make into earrings or brooches is out. Of all my tutorials, this one has taken me the longest time. I actually started it sometime in March. Halfway through I decided to retake the whole new set of pictures, not satisfied with the earlier ones. Its hard work but finally its out and I hope it will be another inspiration for you. The design for this wire wrapped tulip is one of a kind. The story behind this design started when a customer requested for a flower brooch back in Mid 2008 - First Tulip Brooch. The rest is history as the saying goes :) What's in this tutorial? This tutorial teaches you how to create a One of a Kind Wire Wrapped Tulip with five (5) petals. Although you need to know the basic weaving technique, the pictorial instruction will guide you step by step until you successfully complete a tulip. Once finished, this tulip can be turned into a pendant, earrings or brooch. Its a good deal...hehe :) Material and Tools? You don't have to run to the store and purchase additional materials or tools if you are already a wire jeweler. No special tools required. Just the basic material and tools - wire and beads, round nose pliers, flat nose pliers, bend nose pliers, nylon jaw pliers and wire cutters and most important of all a dose of creativity and inspiration. Maybe a bit of patience...with the weaving :) What are you waiting for? Go on to my etsy shop and check it out - click here and off you go. Thank you all for your continued support - not only for those who has been purchasing (and will be purchasing) but also those who only read my posts, glance through my posts and those who accidentally discover my blog and inspired. Last but not least, thank you for leaving your comments here...that will make my day? Just be kind :) WireBlissMei

Wire Wrapped Gemstones III – Pendant & Earrings

Wire Wrapped Gemstones Earrings
Wire Wrapped Gemstones Pendant
Still with wire wrapped gemstones. Here are the wire wrapped pendants and earring sets that I made from the gemstones my friend handed over to me. Still rose quartz & amethyst. Guess the sister really likes these stones; after all rose quartz is believed to enhance all forms of love: self-love, mother love, caring, kindness, platonic and romantic love. People also believes that it opens our hearts and encourages us to be tender, peaceful and gentle as well as nurturance and helps us attract positive, gentle love into our lives. Amethyst on the other hand is associated with increased nobility, spiritual awareness, meditation, balance, psychic abilities, inner peace, healing and positive transformation. This stone brings an understanding of death and rebirth and relieves stress. Amethyst is a teacher of all things spiritual, mystic and psychic. This stone is very healing of body, mind and soul. I must admit that I am not very good at wire wrapping stones yet but it’s good practice. The wire weaving for the bail was an idea from somebody’s website – can't remember the site now.

Revisited - Iza's Woven Bead Cap but (but flattened), Rose Quartz

There are many wire jewelry artists that I admire and get inspiration from since I got addicted to wire.
As some of you may have known, I admire Iza Malczyk tremendously and I dream (since 2007) to be like her one day (still daydreaming :)).
There are many pieces that I made inspired by her creations as well as her tutorials.
And here is the most recent one. This is based on the Woven Bead Cap Tutorial but instead of a cap, its flattened to become a spiral.
Now that I am looking at it, I should have weave the spiral tighter i.e smaller gaps between the wires. Hm...but I think it still looks great this way :)
Iza's Woven Bead Cap but (but flattened), Cherry Quartz and dyed coral beads
Iza's Woven Bead Cap but (but flattened), Cherry Quartz and dyed coral beads
This is the wire wrapped pendant attached to it, giving weight to the woven spiral. Or else, the woven spiral by itself will be too light to hang nicely down the neck.
Its Cat's Eye with Cherry Quartz and dyed coral beads on both top and bottom.
I added some chain to the bottom of this pendant too because without it, the pendant look "incomplete". That is just what I feel :)
Iza's Woven Bead Cap but (but flattened), Cherry Quartz and dyed coral beadsbeaded clasp and wire wrapped 10mm Rose Quartz
More chains for the back of the necklace, beaded clasp and wire wrapped 10mm Rose Quartz.
Somehow the pink of the Rose Quartz don't stand out in these pictures. They look too pale.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pictures and get inspired by this post.

Wire Wrapped Bird Cage Turquoise Rings (Triplets) and Mr. Spiky Pendant

Not as productive as I wanted to be the last few days. Some delayed projects and inability to meet deadlines. No hard feelings but I got time extension :)

Identical turquoise wire wrapped bird cage ring
Here is my Triplets! Identical bird cage ring. These are tiny rings...size 7 done with 22ga wire.
This is an easy and fun project to make. Approximately 5 min each ring. These were done in between a very difficult project.

Meet Mr. Spiky. This piece is based on Carmen's tutorial - Spike Seahorse. Great technique and I can see many possibilities from this technique. Just haven't got the time to explore more. Next year maybe..:)
Talking about which, Have you list down your New Year resolutions?
Me, not yet - still thinking.

Wire Wrapped Flora with Hammered Edges

After the first one and after Shuku suggested more hammering for the petals, here is the new wire wrapped floral pendant.
wire wrapped floral pendant

I really hammered the petals off as you know 19ga stainless steel wire is quite tough.
VERDICT: I really love the outcome....LIKE! LIKE! Thanks for the suggestion Shuku.
This time around I added an additional petals, making them six instead, added a glass leaf  and tourmaline teardrop that looks like a leaf too.
This is mine for the keeping :)

Completed Today - Wire Wrapped Necklace and Pendant

Not very productive today as I was busy with other matters in the morning and only get started at about 2pm. These are two wire wrapped pieces completed. The wire wrapped bead is glass while I am not sure about the green stones...could be agate or aventurine. More like aventurine. They are quite large, about 1.5cm each and the end result is quite a heavy necklace. Wire wrapped green stone necklacewire wrapped glass pendant

Wire Wrapped Gemstones I - Bracelet

chunky wire wrapped rose quartz bracelet chunky wire wrapped rose quartz bracelet chunky wire wrapped rose quartz bracelet
One day a friend handed over to me a bundle of rose quartz and amethyst crystals of various sizes and shapes with an instruction - “do whatever you can with this”. They are actually from/for his sister. Wow! This is a challenge for me as I have never done a wrap before as my beads/crystals normally come with holes on them. This gemstones on the other hand have no holes and I don’t know how to drill nor the equipment to do it!!!???. Worst still, they come in different sizes and shapes. Duh!! Duh!! I must admit that I searched the net for a number of days to find the best wrap for these gemstones. I didn’t find the perfect wrap but found one that I really like from D.K Heath’s (Remy) site – It is actually a free tutorial for Cage Pendant. The link to this free tutorial is http://studioheath.com/tutorials.php. After several try and several yards of wire, I managed to come up with several wire wrapped pieces. The first of them is this rose quartz bracelet. It is quite bulky due to the size of the crystals in addition to the wrap. I asked my friend what the sister think about the bracelet and he said she is very fascinated with my wrap but didn’t say whether she like it or not and most important whether she is going to put it on or not.

Wire Jewelry - Cat Pendant

Still with cat.
This time around a wire wrapped cat pendant.
Or maybe a key chain.
Did a bit of wire weaving for the tail with copper jewelry wire.
The body is a heart shaped Rose Quartz accented with a 4mm stainless steel spacer beads.

Some cats facts:
  • They are the most loving animal (at least to me).
  • They are the best companion (when you are lonely) and manja (no exact English translation for this word, closest is pampered).
  • They always look cool and calm..haha.Some studies found that cat owners are more logical and practical than dog owner...hahaha...there you are dog owners!
  • Cats can improve your health too, especially your heart health.
  • Sad....millions of cats killed for food especially in China, its a delicacy.
  • There was a cat mayor somewhere in Alaska.
  • Cat cafe in Japan and Korea provide you temporary companionship with cats.

Wire Jewelry - Asymmetrical Agate Pendant

This is one of the more difficult piece that I have ever wire wrapped although it looks simple enough.
Mainly because of the lack of symmetry of the Agate as well as the thickness of the stone.
I was thinking "this will be my last asymmetrical pendant (without hole) that I am going to wire wrap...arggghh. I am not taking order for this type of stone anymore!!!"
Yikes!

Wasted a fair bit of wire on this as I restarted at least 3 times at the viking knitting stage as well as the outer wire wrapping stage.

What else can I do?
I just hope the new owner likes it as it is.

Just glad I got it done.

Wire Wrapped Snowflake Pendant

This snowflake pendant is a commissioned piece. This is a challenge in a way as I have never make snowflake before. Lucky a picture was attached for this custom order. Not sure of the origin of the picture but the result almost look identical.....ah well almost. How much time do I spend making this one? Whole morning! about 3 hours. It is always longer the first time :) Materials used for this project are 27ga stainless steel wire, Swarovski crystals and Japanese Seed Beads.
